Take Your Mobile Marketing To The Next Level

by Cary Bergeron on October 10, 2011

I don’t need to tell everyone how important mobile is today.  Just in the last year it has got crazy traffic with more and more smart phones coming online.

I write this post because mobile traffic has taken over web traffic on two of my sites.  I figure now would be a good time to put a quick list together of some things you should keep in mind when looking at mobile and your site.

  1. If you are running a local site be sure provide contact information and fast access to your services.
  2. Don’t have a lot of clutter and make sure to build in some white space.  Too much text and images on your mobile site can make it look like shit.
  3. Use buttons that anyone can use.  Don’t use tiny buttons that only women and children can use.  Make your buttons big and make them scrollable if needed.
  4. Limit data entry and make conversions easy.  Keep any forms that the visitor needs to fill out short and to the point.  If you ask for too much information you might not  get the sale.

These are just a couple things to keep in mind when thinking about your mobile site.  If you have been thinking about making your site more mobile friendly take a look at the WordPress plugin WPTouch.  I believe they have a free version which will get you started and the paid version has many more features.

Don’t waste anymore time getting your site ready.  The mobile revolution is in full swing and you don’t want to be left behind.
