Below are my top ten reasons to never buy a Macbook Pro. I know these becuase I recently purchased the new Macbook and was expecting more than I got.
I’m a long time IT person and have worked with Windows since I was an infant so that very well might be some of the reason for my hatred.
I so wanted to like the Macbook after having pleasant Apple experiences with both the iPhone and the iPad. Hell an iPad even ruined our camp weekend which I got over and still decided to purchase a Macbook.
Anyways with out further ado here is my top 10 reasons why I will never own another Macbook.
- Safari will not go to max screen view.
- You can only adjust windows from bottom right corner? WTF?
- Sometimes you have to drag things to the recycle bin to get rid of them other times you don’t. Can anyone say consistency.
- Some windows you can drag with 3 fingers and others you can’t.
- Two finger scroll is decent but it only works on windows/applications and not on things like volume control or slider bars???
- You can close out an application by clicking the red x but it continues to run in the dock and consume resources in the background. Close means close.
- The lack of features to customize is very underwhelming.
- Lack of consistency across the entire OS.
- Annoying jumping icons in the dock. If I have an new email the fucking dock icon doesn’t need to jump until I click on it.
- In-ability to see open emails, web pages and such by holding your icon over the doc.
I’ll keep the macbook to run email but that is about it. So really I paid about $1200 for an email reader which I guess is my bad.
Quality of keyboards, display and case are very nice.
Oh one last thing, it never seems to charge to 100% either. For some reason it stops charging at 96% and won’t go any further.
Ok this is the last thing…the keyboard back light is really an irrelevant issue. If you are ever in an environment that it is so dark that the keyboard lights up then the display will provide enough light so you can still work the keyboard. Gotta love marketing.
So that’s it for my Macbook Pro bashing. P.T. Barnam said “there is a sucker born every minute” Jobs knows that best.

I have an iPhone and that is as far as I will go with the Apple products….
Good call Dennis you are a smart, smart man.
Hey Cary,
Sorry to hear about your $1,200 email reader. You stated P.T. Barnum made that statement and actually he did not. For the real answer of who said it see:
http://www.historybuff.com/library/refbarnum.html
I’m a big time P.T. Barnum fan and he would have never said such a thing. He value customers / people too much to do so.
Anyway, I just wanted to tell you.
By the way, in your adsense guild for $250 does that include everything that comes with your “adsense receipe” as well?
Robert
Thanks for the link on P.T. Barnum
Yes the guild include everything in the recipe and much more. Weekly videos, tools, how to guides and the best part the private member forums.
Hey Cary,
Thanks for the reply and I am glad to hear it. I will more then likely join then.
Robert
Any Apple experience has to be better than ours was….

I also purchased a MBP a few months ago and although I’m happy with the purchase I agree with some of your concerns above, notably the way the Mac resizes windows. This however has been improved in Lion as full screen works fairly well.
I still maintain a PC (dual monitors) for my full work computer. I considered an iMac for my work computer, but I can’t seem to work as efficiently with the Mac. Perhaps that’s just because I’m used to the PC.
Cheers
Phil
I was trying to respond your ten points, but it won’t let me? Though this is getting through okay. What’s the problem?
Cary,
I bought a MacBook pro for the same reason you did but ended up running windows 7 on it 99% of the time.

Oh, how I disagree with you Cary.
Point by point (until I get a little bored anyway!)
First, I’ve using macs since 1986, before windows (I won’t go into how awful the original windows sitting on the top of MSDOS was!) was even born. I’m typing this on an HP pc, which is very nice, but I have all sorts of problems with windows 7, and I have to use both, sadly. The mac os is far superior though all os’s have their foibles and are not without issues.
Now, to go through your list:
1 You’re not confined to Safari. Download Chrome, or Firefox, or Opera. and use one of those instead. (I don’t like safari either).
2 As for grabbing a window any which way, well, all you have to do is grab the corner and you can adjust to any size you want. What’s the big problem with that? Grabbing the corner allows you to adjust both vertically and horizontally at the same time, so is that so difficult? Why on earth is it better to go to the left, right or bottom to adjust one way? A silly issue that isn’t worth putting in your list.
I’ll answer your other points as it’s not allowing me now to post on this topic.
